The Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition has been announced for the current-gen consoles including PS4, Xbox One, Switch and a PC version was confirmed too through Steam. The game will follow the original Blade Runner which was based on the 1982 film by Ridley Scott. While the 1997 video game adaption was “loosely ” based on the film, it follows the story of detective Ray McCoy as he hunts down renegade replicants which are android robots that look just like humans.

The story is set in 2019 in Los Angeles and the original game was actually developed by now-shut Command and Conquer RTS makers Westwood Studios. The game was a fairly big success selling more than 1 million copies over its lifetime and went on to win various awards including Adventure Game of the Year ad the DICE awards.

Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition will feature a polished and premium restoration according to Nightdive Studios who revealed that the game code was actually lost when Westwood Studios closed its doors in 2003. The developer at Nightdive studios had to reverse-engineer the code in order to make it work on their KEX engine which is the engine the studio uses to do console ports of classic games.

Blade Runner: Enhanced Edition will feature full controller support, updated character models, animations and cutscenes as well as widescreen support.

While you can enjoy the benefits of playing the game on modern hardware, the game should look and feel not as it was, but as glorious as you remember it being.”[/perfectpullquote]

The game is due out later this year.
