A Lot of PlayStation Content is Being Prepared Says Leaker

PlayStation might be gearing up to make a bunch of announcements. This is according to one reliable leaker who claims that a lot of content is currently being prepared at the company in light of PlayStation’s 30th anniversary, though they’re not quite sure whether this means that a showcase is coming up or something else is being planned.

The leak comes from billbil-kun who is usually very accurate with PlayStation leaks – specifically providing leaks for monthly PlayStation Plus games ahead of their official announcement. “A PlayStation event is really happening soon?” wrote billbil-kun on Twitter/X. “I don’t have the answer, but many PlayStation stuff are being prepared behind the scenes. Some fresh news are coming, Stay tuned.”

2024 marks the 30th anniversary of PlayStation since the launch of the original console in 1994, so it makes sense that Sony would want to do a little something extra to celebrate (if the themed 30th anniversary PS5 consoles weren’t already a cause for celebration). If billbil-kun is right on the money, then PlayStation could host an event sometime in December.

Of course, some fans theorise that PlayStation is actually preparing to have a big presence at The Game Awards next month which takes place on 12 December. It’s currently the most watched awards show in the entire entertainment industry, beating out viewerships for the Oscars and Golden Globes. There couldn’t be a bigger stage for Sony to make a bunch of new announcements as many eyes will be on the awards show, especially to see which title ultimately wins Game of the Year.

That said, PlayStation also has a habit of doing things on its own terms, so we can’t rule out the possibility of the company hosting an event in December as well. As with all rumours and reports, take this with a pinch of salt until we have more information.
