For those who have been living under a rock, Apex Legends released this week and it is taking the battle royale genre by storm. Apex Legends is, of course, Respawn Entertainment’s free-to-play battle royale title that has been making waves across the industry since its release. Apex Legends is set in the Titanfall universe, but it doesn’t actually feature any titans. Just yesterday, we reported on the news that Titanfall 3 isn’t in development, but there is some good news as well. A new Titanfall game will release this year.

According to Respawn Entertainment’s head honcho, Vince Zampella, there is a new Titanfall game coming this year and since he used the T word, we can expect it to feature those awesome titans we loved from the first and second main entries. This could be what many reports and rumours have been talking about, mentioning that the dev wants to release what people thought was Titanfall 3 quickly before it started looking dated due to the use of Valve’s Source engine.
So while we are pretty sure the new Titanfall game isn’t Titanfall 3, the developer hasn’t shared a lot of details on the upcoming project. What we do know is this:
During EA’s Q3 financial earnings call, the CEO Andrew Wilson said that there would be more information in the “months ahead”. Further, the new Titanfall game will not be free-to-play and it will feature a “new twist” on the Titanfall universe.
Respawn boss Vince Zampella revealed to the public on Twitter that a new Titanfall game is in development.

The franchises setting and lore does have a lot going for it and I, for one, can’t wait to see what Respawn Entertainment is planning to do with the new Titanfall game releasing this year.
