A Plague Tale: Requiem launched last year to glowing reviews, going on to be nominated for several awards including Game of the Year. However, some criticism was aimed at the game’s PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions being limited to 30FPS. A new update to the game has finally arrived, introducing a 60FPS performance mode for consoles along with some additional performance tweaks.
The latest update for A Plague Tale: Requiem is currently available to download on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The update mainly addresses the game’s performance issues on consoles, now offering a 60FPS performance mode for players in exchange for a lower resolution. The PC version is also getting some improvements, allowing players to further optimise the game’s presentation and performance.

When A Plague Tale: Requiem launched, Digital Foundry discovered that it ran at 1440p though could be upscaled to 4K but ran at a relatively smooth 30FPS. Thankfully this didn’t deter early reviewers from praising the game’s other aspects aside from some of its technical limitations, including its great story, improved combat and stealth mechanics as well as the staggering amount of rats that could be seen on-screen without sacrificing framerate.
Publisher Focus Entertainment describes A Plague Tale: Requiem:
