Activision Confirms New Call of Duty 2020 Release and No One is Surprised

Like the sun with rise and set today, Call of Duty 2020 has been confirmed by Activision during their recent call with investors and release later this year. The publisher revealed that there will indeed be a new Call of Duty game to play in 2020 which will release at the end of the year. The only change to this announcement is that Activision did not reveal the developer of the game as they usually do.

Activision did not reveal which of its three developers are working on the game but they usually rotate across the development houses. It goes Infinity Ward, Treyarch, and Sledgehammer Games. Treyarch being the studio that developed the 2018 release with Infinity Ward being the minds behind COD: Modern Warfare released in 2019. It means that Call of Duty 2020 could be developed by Sledgehammer Games.

With that being said, we heard rumours last year that Activision approached Wisconsin-based studio Raven to be the lead studio for this year’s COD release. However, rumours also revealed that Treyarch would lead on the game with Sledgehammer Games and Raven working as supporting developers.

Activision usually reveals the new Call of Duty by June so we should see it in the next few months. There’s no doubt that the game will be coming to next-gen hardware too so it could be the best-looking entry in the series. We will have to wait and see how it all plays out.
