Call of Duty: Warzone Battle Royale free to play Modern Warfare Activision solos mode Call of Duty File sizes

Activision Finally Shrinks Call of Duty File Sizes

Everyone knows that if you are a Call of Duty gamer then chances are you don’t have many other games installed on your PS4 and fewer on your PS5. The game is massive and every time a new season rolls around, it gets bigger and bigger. Thankfully, this is about to change as Activision has released a game-shrinking update that reduces both games up to 30GB. This update is part of the Season Two Reloaded content.

The Call of Duty update is meant to go live sometime today, 30 March. Activision says the update will be bigger than usual coming in at over 57GB for just Warzone alone. But there is light at the end of the tunnel. Not only does this update decrease the Call of Duty file size but it also should decrease the file size for future updates too.

Warzone Update Sizes

The game update sizes are as follows:

  • PlayStation 5: 52.0 GB
  • PlayStation 4: 52.0 GB
  • Xbox Series X / Xbox Series S: 57.8 GB
  • Xbox One: 57.8 GB
  • PC: 52.4 GB (Warzone Only) / 133.6 GB (Warzone and Modern Warfare)

Activision says that the update changes and optimizes “streamlining content packs” which is where the file reductions come from. Additionally, players can remove modes they don’t want to play such as the single-player and Special Ops in order to save more space. Activision also says that users will need to delete these data packs, even the ones you play, and redownload the new optimised version in order to receive the less-bulky files.

Along with the ability to remove individual modes that are no longer played, owners of the full Modern Warfare experience will see more space freed on their platform of choice. However, those who want to continue playing Campaign, Multiplayer, and/or Special Ops will need to reinstall the optimized Content Packs, which will be released alongside and shortly after the Season Two Reloaded update.

PlayStation 5 and 4 users can look forward to a 30GB decrease when installing both Modern Warfare and Warzone and 10GB when only installing Warzone. Xbox users, on the other hand, can save 33GB and 14GB. Take a look at the full Call of Duty file sizes savings below.
