Adorable Beat ’em Up Big Helmet Heroes Launches in February

Castle Crashers-inspired beat ‘em up game called Big Helmet Heroes has a release date. Indie developer Exalted Studios and game publisher Dear Villagers will launch the game on 6 February on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch (at a later date), and PC. Users keen on jumping into this adventure can pre-order the game now across all online stores. In addition, there’s a demo on both PC and Xbox where you can play the first few missions.

If you’re not aware of Big Helmet Heroes, the game is a tribute to the classic genre like TMNT and, of course, Castle Crashers. Players take on the role of one of four playable characters with their own set of unique skills and attacks. You then bash your way across some gorgeous-looking levels as you try to save the people of the kingdom who have seemingly been taken captive by a group of bad mercenaries.

The characters include:

• The Warrior, skilled with both sword and shield balances attack and defence masterfully, a true asset on the battlefield. Strategic use of the shield complements the swordsmanship.
• Meet the Brute, a formidable presence with a massive two-handed weapon. The slower pace is offset by powerful strikes that can decisively shift the course of the battle.
• The Rogue, a master of stealth and speed, wields twin daggers to silently take down enemies. Rapid, stealthy attacks inflict a deadly force before the foes are even aware of the danger.
• The Monk, in tune with nature, combines aerial agility with fluid movements. Wielding a deceivably simple staff to create a dance of destruction is as effective as it is beautiful.

The trailer sold me on the game when it was first announced back in 2024. The game looks like some good couch co-op fun. Not to mention the world itself looks incredibly charming.
