Remedy Entertainment has confirmed that Alan Wake 2 will include separate graphics modes for PS5 and Xbox Series X. While the game was built with a 30FPS render pipeline, the studio has confirmed that players will be able to enable a performance mode and increase the frame rate.
While the exact frame rate cap for the Alan Wake 2 performance mode hasn’t been confirmed yet, Remedy says the studio will share details on the performance mode at a later date.

In a tweet, Remedy’s communication director Thomas Puha explained:
“I’m glad to say that Alan Wake 2 will have a Performance mode on PS5 and XboxSeries X,” Puha said. The game has been built from the beginning as a 30fps experience focusing on visuals and ambiance, but somehow we have managed to include a solid Performance mode. We’ll talk details later.”
A Twitter user followed up the announcement with a question regarding the game’s performance. They ask if the Alan Wake 2 performance mode will be locked at 60FPS. In a response, Puha said, “Still tweaking that”.
It would be great if Alan Wake 2 would include a High Refresh Rate mode which unlocks the frame rate and runs the game at 40FPS. We have seen HFR modes grow in popularity across a number of titles. The 120Hz enabled mode is less hardware-intensive than 60FPS modes and allows the game to run at higher resolutions than seen in 60FPS. It would provide better visual fidelity overall.
Alan Wake 2 is set to launch on 17 October for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC through the Epic Games Store.
