The Alien franchise has always had a special place in my heart, ever since I was old enough to watch the first Alien film. There have been some decent Alien games and for me, Alien: Isolation was the best. Sure, it might have been undervalued by critics, but many gamers still enjoyed it. Alien: Isolation was released all the way back in 2014 and now, it seems like Alien: Blackout will be the next game in the franchise.
20th Century Fox is the Alien IP holder and recently, they have filed a trademark for Alien: Blackout as a video game. The trademark doesn’t give us much at all and we don’t know if Creative Assembly will be involved. They developed Alien: Isolation and if Alien: Blackout is a sequel, then they will probably be involved. Eurogamer’s sources said back in 2017 that Creative Assembly is working on a new project but it won’t be an Alien game. However, that could have been some form of misdirection.
There is so much to do with the Alien franchise that it could really be anything, set in any timeline or following the events of any film or game. Even so, as an Alien fan and a Kojima fan, I’m hyped. Nothing has been confirmed obviously, but Kojima did Tweet last week that he visited 20th Century Fox.

Maybe Kojima’s visit is just coincidence, or maybe he could start working on Alien: Blackout after Death Stranding. Keep in mind that just because the name is trademarked, doesn’t mean Alien: Blackout will definitely get created, but it does look like it will be the next big Alien game at this point.
