FX has released the first trailer for the upcoming Alien: Earth TV series, which is expected to debut later this year. The show follows the next instalment in the Alien series but takes place on Earth this time around. The show will premiere sometime in “summer” (June – August) on Hulu On and Disney+.
The teaser is exactly what it says it is: a teaser. To be honest, the trailer isn’t all that great to look at with some shoddy CG work and a nauseating camera that shakes around the entire sequence. It shows a ship hurdling through space with the Xenomorph scuttling about.
The Xenomorph gets to the end of the shuttle, which includes a window looking outward to space. The window shows Earth in the distance. Throughout the clip, we also hear the words “containment breach”. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to determine what this teaser is all about.
Given that the upcoming series is set on Earth, it makes sense for FX to tease fans with a clip leading up to the events of the show. We don’t know when we’ll get more footage or perhaps a trailer that isn’t bogged down with budget CG, but given that the Alien: Earth series is expected to debut in the coming months, it will be soon.
When a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth, a young woman (Sydney Chandler) and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat in FX’s highly anticipated TV series Alien: Earth from creator Noah Hawley.
Lead by Chandler, the series showcases an expansive international cast which includes Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, David Rysdahl, Adrian Edmondson, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Diem Camille and Moe Bar-El.
