Ever wanted to mow down hordes of Alien with friends? Well, now you can. The next video game in the popular sci-fi Alien series is a cooperative shooter by Cold Iron Studios. Aliens: Fireteam will see players controlling characters from a third-person perspective while surviving an onslaught of Xenomorphs.
According to Cold Iron Studios, Aliens: Fireteam is set a few decades before the original films and includes a range of classes that players will master in their pursuit to rid the galaxy of the horrific yet rather sexy-looking Alien Xenomorph.
Cold Iron Studios also claims that the game will include a wide range of different Xenomorphs including the various forms fans have seen in past films and video games. Even the Weyland-Yutani synthetics will be in the game.
Set 23 years after the original Alien trilogy, Aliens: Fireteam drops players into the role of a Colonial Marine aboard the USS Endeavor, recently tasked with answering a distress call from the outer colonies. Deploy to overrun facilities, abandoned ruins, and strange alien landscapes as you battle terrifying enemies across four campaigns with two friends or AI teammates.
It has been a couple of years since we have played a new Aliens game. The last decent entry in the series was Alien: Isolation which still today is a great horror to experience. However, the Aliens video game series has also had its rough moments. We all remember Aliens: Colonial Marines.… enough said.
Aliens: Fireteam is taking on a more action approach compared to Isolation so it will be interesting to see how it holds up against literally the hundreds of games in the genre. Cold Iron Studios says that “this is the action game Alien fans have been waiting for.”
The game is set to release sometime in mid 2021 for PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam. Check out the trailer down below.
