The Nintendo Switch 2 launched with some nifty camera features. The ability to use a camera on the Switch 2 unlocks GameChat features as well as ties into various games. Mario Kart World, for example, lets you face appear in-game when racing online with friends.
But while the Switch 2 camera support is great, the compatibility of third-party cameras is a mixed bag right now. Nintendo claimed that most USB cameras would work on the Nintendo Switch 2, but that isn’t the case. The list of “supported” cameras is actually a lot shorter than ones that don’t work on the console.
Why is camera support on the Switch 2 so finicky? We have no idea. Both Nintendo and camera brand makers themselves haven’t been able to confirm why some cameras work while others don’t. Even the most plug-and-play friendly cameras seemingly have no support on the console.
