As South Africa enters the chilly winter season, the US enters its summer line-up of blockbuster movie releases. This June, there’s a wide variety of movies heading our way from the live-action How to Train Your Dragon and F1 to Ballerina (set in the John Wick universe) and the highly anticipated 28 Years Later. Here are all the movies showing in South African cinemas this June 2025.

A life-affirming, genre-bending story based on Stephen King’s novella about three chapters in the life of an ordinary man named Charles Krantz.

Housefull 5 (Comedy / 13 TBA) – 6 June

India’s Biggest Franchise is back with the 5th instalment, and this time it is not just chaos and comedy…. But a KILLER Comedy!

One to One: John and Yoko (Documentary / TBA) – 6 June

How to Train Your Dragon (Family / PG) – 13 June

On the rugged isle of Berk, where Vikings and dragons have been bitter enemies for generations, Hiccup stands apart, defying centuries of tradition when he befriends Toothless, a feared Night Fury dragon. Their unlikely bond reveals the true nature of dragons, challenging the very foundations of Viking society.

28 Years Later (Horror / 16) – 20 June

Bride Hard (Comedy / TBA) – 20 June

Sam is a secret agent whose toughest mission to date is pleasing her bride-to-be best friend at a lavish destination wedding.
