May in the movie world is the month of horror, superheroes* and blue alien koala things. Cinemas in South Africa are about to get an injection of new movies ranging from family-friendly remakes of beloved Disney movies like Lilo and Stitch to blood-pumping horror with Final Destination: Bloodlines. If you’re in the mood for Marvel, the MCU is getting a new entry titled Thunderbolts. Here are all the movies showing in South African cinemas this May 2025.

The Kwiksilwers (Comedy / 10-12 PG) – 2 May

Shadow Force (Action / TBA) – 9 May
