Sony has announced when the company plans on rolling out the new PlayStation Plus service across the globe. In June, the all-new PlayStation Plus service is going to be divided into a number of tiers that offer various games and benefits across the subscription. This includes a library of up to 700 games playable across PS4 and PS5. It also includes a tier that unlocks classic PS2, PS3 and PSP games playable through cloud streaming.

Sony says that the new revamped PlayStation Plus service will begin its rollout by the end of May. Asia markets are expected to get the service on 23 May, Japan on 1 June, America on 13 June and Europe on 22 June.

That means South Africans can look forward to the service rolling out here on 22 June.

• Asia markets (excluding Japan) – targeting May 23, 2022
• Japan – targeting June 1, 2022
• Americas – targeting June 13, 2022
• Europe – targeting June 22, 2022

The company is also releasing cloud streaming support in a handful of new regions by the end of June. This includes Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Malta, Poland, Republic of Cyprus, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.

Sony has yet to announce the official pricing for the all-new PlayStation Plus service for our region. The company says gamers must keep their eye on the official PlayStation Plus site here ahead of its launch in June. We will also update you once we receive any word on the South African pricing.

  • Time-limited game trials will also be offered in this tier, so customers can try select games before they buy.
