Subaru says the new Outback SUV packs some neat new quality-of-life features including a Hands-Free Tailgate function where drivers can wave their hand or arm directly in front of the rear Subaru badge to gain access to the car’s boot.

There’s also a DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System that scans the driver’s face through sensors and cameras. It then uses facial recognition to detect signs of fatigue or distraction. The driver is then warned to pay more attention to the road. This system also automatically adjusts the driving position and mirrors according to a 5-pre-set setting so users can set up different preferences for each driver. No more “who the hell moved my %@#$! seat back” nonsense in the household.
