Amazon has sent out invites to a mysterious new event scheduled to take place on 26 February. The event will be hosted by Panos Panay and the Amazon Devices and Services team. The invites feature some blue swirly lines behind the “You’re Invited” text, and if you put all the available invites together, these swirls reveal the word “ALEXA”.
While it is still too early to say whether or not Amazon will debut its rumoured “supercharged” new version of Alexa, the event will most definitely dive into some features around the assistant.
Amazon skipped its annual hardware event back in 2024 amid rumours that the company was still developing these new AI advancements for Alexa. Reports claimed that Amazon was struggling to get Alexa ready in time for the original reveal and, as a result, delayed the showcase.
Back in 2023, Amazon first teased a new, revamped Alexa assistant powered by LLMs; however, the company never followed up with any sort of reveal or details regarding the feature. It seems this upcoming event will show it off.
Apart from Alexa, Amazon will likely debut a range of new hardware during the 26 February event. The Devices and Services team behind the announcement works on new Kindles, Echo smart speakers, Fire TV devices, and other products. So it will likely be the place to showcase new hardware.
