Amazon has been forced to delay its upcoming, rather ambitious new MMO called New World to September. The game launched in open beta back in July and while it was a somewhat smooth test, the developer say they need some extra time to iron out the issues players faced in the game.

One major issues players faced during the New World beta was the bricking of GPUs when running the game at unlocked frame rates. Multiple users complained that their expensive graphics cards simply crashed resulting in complete hardware failure. However, Amazon claims this was not their fault at all. They did release an update for the game which they “hoped” fixed the issue.

This latest New World delay now marks the game’s fourth setback since its initial announcement. In a press release, Amazon explained the importance of this “hopefully final delay”.

“We want New World’s launch to be a smooth and fun experience for all players, and that means making some improvements based on what you encountered during Closed Beta. So we’re going to take a few extra weeks to smash bugs, improve stability, and polish the game. New World’s new global launch date is September 28, 2021.”

New World is an MMO and games this size don’t often happen overnight. It makes sense the developers need more time to get it ready for launch. Amazon says that the beta clocked in over 25 million hours of game time by the community. In addition, New World was the most viewed and played game on Twitch during the beta test. Still, a delay like this is never an easy thing to swallow.
