AMD is making FSR exclusive to its new GPUs. The upscaling technology has been known for being the go-to for all GPUs, consoles, and portable handheld gaming PCs across the industry. However, AMD FSR4 is launching as an exclusive feature for the upcoming Radeon RX 9070 Series GPU… Well, according to AMD marketing.
AMD has yet to announce the tech. The news arrives through a substantial leak that confirms the exclusivity. We can expect the official announcement later this evening during the AMD CES 2025 press conference. According to the leak, AMD FSR4 comes with the expected upscaling jargon including “high-quality 4K upscaling, high-performance Frame-Generation, and Anti-Lag 2”.
The question we all have is whether or not FSR4 is coming to other 9000-Series Radeon GPUs. We know AMD is planning to launch the Radeon RX 9070 and 9060, but this slide suggests FSR4 is only part of the high-end card at this rate. What about all the RDNA 3 cards? This also suggests that FSR4 won’t be part of any previous GPU models and will cut out support for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Not to mention the Ryzen Z1 Extreme.
We’ll have to wait and see what AMD says about this leak later today. We know that NVIDIA is also gearing up to announce its DLSS 4 technology alongside the new 50-Series GPUs. At the moment, it seems both AMD and NVIDIA are working on new GPUs with exclusive upscaling technology. How “exclusive” this is remains unclear. We’ll share the official news once it all goes live later on today.
