An Elden Ring incantation that was somewhat underwhelming before has now received a huge buff thanks to the recent update and it’s practically melting bosses. The incantation in question is called Rain of Fire, which didn’t have the highest or most reliable damage output initially. After the update, though, things are looking a bit different as players are using it to steamroll a lot of the tough encounters in the game.
Rain of Fire is an incantation added into Elden Ring as part of Shadow of the Erdtree. At launch, most players agreed that it wasn’t very useful. The incantation calls a hail of fire to rain down on the location of a boss, dealing chip damage with each successive strike. Unfortunately, before the update, the damage output of this attack wasn’t great and most players simply ignored it (some even called it the worst incantation in the DLC).
As of update 1.13, Rain of Fire received a massive buff that increases its damage output significantly while reducing the interval between each hit. Essentially, this means each fireball will now strike faster and harder. Of course, there are certain fast bosses thanquickly escape the attack’s area of effect, so it seems to deal with slower enemies more efficiently. Twitter/X user GinoMachino gives us a first-hand account of how big of an improvement it is:

A number of incantations, spells and equipment were buffed in the latest update beyond Rain of Fire, so it’s worth checking out in case you find another (formerly useless) attack that has also benefited from the increase damage.
In related news, an Elden Ring player is suing From Software for making the game too difficult and inaccessible to players. The player also argues that From Software cut content out of the final game that paying customers are entitled to. You can read more about this bizarre ongoing story right here.
