An Update Regarding The Rainbow Six Siege South African Servers

Earlier this week Ubisoft released the Rainbow Six Siege: Shifting Tides Season that brought with it two new Operators, a drastic overhaul of the Bullet Penetration system and of course, the news of South African servers. However, there has been a bit of confusion surrounding the servers and the rollout plan for them in SA. We wanted to clear the air and share an update on the situation.

You can read up on everything there is to know about the Rainbow Six Siege: Shifting Tides content here to catch up on the new features and changes. Ubisoft has since been in contact with me to clarify the current situation with the Rainbow Six Siege South African servers.

On 11 November 2019, Ubisoft rolled out the South African “test server” for Siege. This test server was PC only and was used to analyse the game’s environment in SA. Since then, Shifting Tides was also added to the server for testing. These test servers are now offline as Ubisoft analyses the tests and performance results all gathered during the early phase.

As it stands right now, Ubisoft are analysing the results from the test phase which means the local servers are not online just yet. The feedback I received seemed quite positive, however, they did not give me a clear indication on the exact date and time for the launch of these local servers. It could take a week or more to analyse the data so these servers are rolled out correctly.

I originally reported on the servers launching alongside the Shifting Tides Season as reported on by WhatCulture as it led me to believe it the servers would be simply going live when the Season launched. The same day, I recieved an email from a local Ubisoft representative that also claimed that this was the case.

However, the next day Ubisoft emailed me to state that was not the case and the test server results were still undergoing investigation. I then updated the original post with this: While we originally received word that Ubisoft was going to turn on the South African servers this week, they have yet to provide an actual day and time for it. We have reached out to Ubisoft for confirmation and will update accordingly.

Ubisoft is confident in the Rainbow Six Siege South African servers but asks the community for patience as they analyse the results. When asked if these servers will be both for PC and console, a Ubisoft representative stated “I believe so, as the aim is to provide the best and same experience regardless of platform”

As soon as I receive feedback from Ubisoft that the servers are officially online, I will share the news. Until then, sorry about all the confusion.
