Another Assassin’s Creed Remake Reportedly Planned Besides Black Flag

Reports first surfaced about a potential remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag last year, though it seems like Ubisoft isn’t stopping there. According to a new report, the company is working on another Assassin’s Creed remake besides Black Flag planned to release before the end of the decade, though it wasn’t named yet.

The report originates from Insider Gaming which has a decent track record of accurate industry leaks. According to the outlet’s sources, Ubisoft is working on a number of Assassin’s Creed projects that haven’t been officially announced yet. This includes Project Obsidian (Black Flag remake), Nebula (settings based on India and Aztec Empire), Raid (a free-to-play PvE four-player co-op title) and Echoes (another multiplayer title).

All of these titles are expected to release before the end of the decade, Insider Gaming claims. They also added that another Assassin’s Creed remake besides Black Flag is in the works at Ubisoft, though it’s anyone’s guess what it could be.

Some fans speculate that the company is remaking the very first game in the series as that would bring it to a modern audience with improved controls and visuals. As some users already pointed out, Assassin’s Creed Mirage could be used as a blueprint for a remake of the first game as Mirage‘s back-to-basics approach to gameplay would suit a remake of the first Assassin’s Creed perfectly.

Others think it might be Assassin’s Creed 2, given the game’s popularity along with Ezio arguably being the most recognisable and beloved character in the franchise. A remake for modern audiences would bring the protagonist to the attention of more players today.

In related news, Ubisoft confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Codename Red, the next big mainline entry set in feudal Japan, is scheduled to release before March 2025. Reports pin the release date sometime in November this year.
