Earlier this morning, Nintendo officially announced a new Direct event focused entirely on the new Nintendo Museum, which is scheduled to open in Kyoto, Japan later this year. The Direct will offer a tour of the planned museum but unlike previous Direct events, this one won’t feature any games. However, a prominent Nintendo leaker claims that another Direct showcase is apparently planned for later this month.
“Join us tomorrow, August 19 at 3pm PT, for a tour of the Nintendo Museum that’s scheduled to open during the fall of 2024 in Kyoto, Japan!” said Nintendo about the museum-focused Direct taking place later today. It will run for roughly ten minutes. However, Nintendo leaker PH Brazil, who has a decent track record of Nintendo leaks, claims that another Nintendo Direct is planned for this month.
Responding to someone doubting his claim on Famiboards, PH Brazil replied, “But to your point, no. This wasn’t all I was talking about. There’s more coming this month. Why would I suggest this would cause movement in the speculation thread?”
If another Direct is actually planned for this month, there are two more weeks left in August. However, Nintendo has a history of announcing events a day before they’re meant to take place, so there’s still plenty of time for this rumour to be proven correct.
Of course, this would be one event gamers should probably pay attention to since it could be the show where Nintendo blows the lid open on its Switch successor and new console. Nintendo already confirmed that it plans to announce the next console before March 2025, though the company didn’t give a specific date. According to a report from last week, developers have already been briefed not to expect the new hardware to launch until at least April or May 2025, leaving quite a gap for Nintendo to ramp up marketing.
As with all rumours and reports, take this with a pinch of salt for now.
