PlayStation Showcase May 2023 When Where to Watch

Another PlayStation Showcase Planned for Later This Year – Report

Last week Wednesday, Sony held its first major PlayStation Showcase event in two years. Expectations were very high for Sony to break its 622 days of silence and deliver a look at the next phase of the PS5 and what its first-party studios had been quietly working on. While we didn’t exactly get all the answers we wanted, it looks like another showcase is being planned for later this year according to a new report.

The report originates from Colin Moriarty who has a decent track record, though it’s worth noting that not all of his predictions and claims in the past have been correct. That said, Moriarty claims that Sony is planning another PlayStation Showcase towards the end of the year. Moriarty’s sources reportedly told him that the focus of this showcase will be around the games that weren’t announced at the recent PlayStation Showcase.

To add a little more fuel to the fire, reliable leaker The Snitch claimed last week that Sony had multiple game announcements that weren’t revealed at the show for some reason. If the reports are true, it’s unclear why Sony held off on those announcements. Some speculate that the recent showcase was simply meant to shine a light on third-party games, PS VR2 and tease its live service titles before taking the plunge with its stronger single-player reveals which will, alone, take up a lengthy presentation.

It’s hard to verify any of this information right now but fans can look forward to a few more upcoming gaming events taking place in the next couple of weeks, including Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest on 8 June and the Xbox Games Showcase on 11 June. Ubisoft will also host its own Ubisoft Forward live event on 12 June.

Those hoping for a release date for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 won’t have to wait too long either as developer Insomniac Games recently stated that one was coming “soon” along with pre-order information.
