Anthem development

Anthem Development Began Before Destiny According to BioWare

There is no doubt a lot of Destiny influence in BioWare’s upcoming RPG, Anthem. People who love Destiny will find a lot of similarities between the two games. Anthem’s deep RPG mechanics doubled with its shooting and loot system are very Destiny-fied and I, for one, cannot wait to see how its end-game grind compares to Bungie’s shooter.

Many people have called out BioWare for copying Bungie’s unique approach to Destiny but it seems that Anthem was actually in development before Destiny according to Bioware’s Michael Gamble. Speaking to a French game outlet called Jesus Video, Michael revealed that although the game has a lot of influence from Destiny, it was actually in development before it came out.

“It’s interesting because Anthem has been in development since before Destiny even came out… games these days are influenced by the games out in the market to a certain degree.”

You can see that Michael does not deny the game’s influence from the Destiny series at all and much of its mechanics could come from the popular shooter series. With that being said, I do hope BioWare does a better job on some things compared to Bungie. A lot of Destiny needs work and its 10-year plan is not going as well as they hoped. Hopefully, BioWare can master the formula of what it takes to make a long-running RPG shooter as the world needs a new one and I am here for it.

Anthem is set to release on 22 February 2019 on PS4, Xbox One and PC. Check out the latest NVIDIA CES trailer below;
