Those looking to jump into the mobile rendition of Apex Legends can do so this month. Respawn Entertainment has announced that Apex Legends Mobile will hit Android and iOS in May. Although no exact release date has been announced, the studio is working to release the mobile game across the globe in the coming weeks.

Apex Legends Mobile has been in closed testing for a few months now. The game, which is a standalone version of the console and PC battle royale shooter, will be free-to-play and won’t include any sort of paid items that can be used as “pay-to-win”. Instead, Apex Legends Mobile will follow in the console and PC port’s footsteps and release cosmetic items and other battle pass skins.

Respawn Entertainment says that Apex Legends Mobile has been built from the ground up to take advantage of mobile GPUs. The game is fully optimized for a mobile experience but at the same time, it stays true to the series’ iconic BR formula.

The mobile port will ship with 10 Legends at launch including favourites such as Wrath, Octane, Bloodhound and Pathfinder. Respawn is also adding classic maps to the game like World’s Edge and Kings Canyon. These maps have been crafted just for mobile devices and feature their own unique visual style.

As for the game modes in Apex Legends Mobile, at launch, it will include the usual Battle Royale and Ranked. However, Respawn says that players must lookout for even more modes and features arriving in the weeks after launch.

The console and PC port of Apex Legends is set to get its Season 13 content on 10 May. This “Saviors” season will bring some significant changes to the Storm Point map and introduce a new Legend Newcastle.
