Apex Legends on Consoles – Respawn Working on a Way to Stop M&K Players

Last week, we reported on how developer Respawn Entertainment is dealing with cheaters in Apex Legends, pitting them against each other via matchmaking and banning them left and right. The developer is clearly on the ball and wants to make Apex Legends a cheater-free environment. One thing on consoles that I would consider cheating is using a mouse and keyboard, as it simply gives the M&K user too much of an advantage over those who use a controller. Now, Respawn has made their stance on this issue very clear.

In a new Respawn Checking post on Reddit, community manager Jayfresh_Respawn addressed the issue of some players using a M&K on consoles while playing Apex Legends. Thankfully, the developer is completely against it, explaining that:

We are investigating ways to detect if players are doing it that we’re testing internally. That’s all we have to say on it for now but we’ll revisit this and talk about progress with detection and how we’ll address players that are using it in the near future.[/perfectpullquote]

Sure, it isn’t the worst form of cheating ever, but it definitely gives the M&K player in Apex Legends on consoles a massive aiming and arguably movement advantage as well. It remains to be seen how Respawn will deal with these players and what type of punishment will be handed out. Maybe M&K players in Apex Legends on consoles won’t be outright banned, but instead given a warning seeing as it can be argued that this type of thing isn’t exactly cheating.
