Apple announced its much-rumoured new pair of AirPods Pro which we have been hearing about for some time now. The new AirPods Pro will feature noise-cancellation and some other fancy features that make the bloated price tag seem to be worth it.

For starters, the AirPods Pro has built-in microphones that detect external sound which the earbuds then cancel out. This is how standard noise cancellation works but just in a much smaller form. Apple claims the noise cancellation is adjusted up to 200 times per second.

The new AirPods Pro also features a new transparency mode that will let you hear your surroundings when you activate it. This means you don’t need to take them off when you need to hear what people are saying to you. The new transparency mode is activated with the new Force Sensor used to control music.
The buds come with a new Adaptive EQ that Apple claims will ‘automatically tune the music to the shape of your ear”. The earphones also make use of a silicone bud that will come in three different sizes included in the box. These buds will be easy to install and also feature a software audio test that you can perform to make sure you have the correct size bud installed on the device.
Other features include 24-hour battery life, wireless charging, “Hey Siri” and sweat and water resistance. They will also come with a USB Type-C cable in the box but still charge using the old Lightning connector. You can read about all the features here.
The device will sell for $249 in the US and will release on 30 October 2019. We will update you when once we know the South African pricing and release date for these new earphones.
