Apple Announces New $399 iPhone SE Packing an A13 Bionic Chip

The new revamped iPhone SE has been rumoured for months now and Apple has finally announced it. The new iPhone SE starts at $399 for the 64GB version and looks exactly like an iPhone 8 but has some beefed-up internals including an A13 Bionic chip inside of it. Just like the 8, it features a 4.7-inch Retina HD True Tone display, large bezels on the top and the bottom and a home button with Touch ID.

[perfectpullquote align=”right” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”#ED4C06″ class=”” size=”21″]It packs a decent camera system and a CPU that matches Apple’s most expensive iPhones on the market[/perfectpullquote]The phone comes in three storage variations including a 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. As for colours, you will be able to grab a black, white or Product Red model. The iPhone SE packs the Apple A13 Bionic chip which is the same chipset found inside the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro models.

There is a single 12-megapixel camera lens on the back with a true-tone flash. The A13 Bionic chip also allows the device to perform some fancy camera tricks including Smart HDR, and Portrait Mode. The back camera also supports 5K 60FPS video recording. The front camera is a 7-megapixel lens that can also do portrait shots.

The iPhone SE does support QI wireless charging, it does not have a headphone jack but will come with Lightning cable earphones in the box. Unfortunately, it comes with a dumb 5W charger but also supports fast charging should you own a higher wattage adapter. The device does not have 3D Touch, a feature scrapped on recent new iPhones. However, it does support Haptic Touch.

The iPhone SE is quite a deal if you ask us. While local pricing and availability have not been announced yet $399 for an iPhone with an A13 Bionic chip is quite a steal. It packs a decent camera system and a CPU that matches Apple’s most expensive iPhones on the market. That is impressive.
