Apple is set to host its anticipated September event this week where the company will showcase the new iPhone 14 range. However, outside of the usual new iPhones, you can also look forward to some new tech in other departments too. One of which is a new set of AirPods Pro.
According to a report from well-sourced Apple insider Mark Gurman, the Apple “Far Out” event will play host to a new AirPods Pro. The announcement is an expected one though. Apple announced the original AirPods Pro back in October 2019 so they are quite old now. It also means that early adopters are in need of an upgrade now due to the battery health being depreciated on early models.

Apple is expected to upgrade quite a lot of tech inside the AirPods Pro 2. Namely introduced the next generation H1 processor. The processor will be able to transcode higher quality sound by either using Apple’s Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC) or introduce Bluetooth 5.2 support. Bluetooth 5.2 uses LC3 to transcode audio more efficiently.
In terms of the design, Apple is reportedly changing the look of the AirPods Pro 2 to include a wing tip design similar to the Beats Fit Pro. The case might also get a speaker which could emit a sound when searching for it using the Find My App.
You can expect the full announcements this Wednesday, 7 September. The event kicks off at 19:00 SAT. You can watch it on YouTube and for the best experience, on Apple TV devices.
