Apple Intelligence Rolls Out Across iPhones and Mac in Beta

Apple Intelligence is now available in beta for supported devices. Last night, Apple launched iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1 and macOS 15.1. All three of these betas are device-specific. This means unless you have a device that can run Apple Intelligence, the updates won’t appear for you.

We have covered the supported devices already in the past. Check out our full guide here. In short, Apple Intelligence is only available on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max alongside all “M” iPads and Mac devices. It is also available in beta for now so you’ll need to enroll your device into the Apple Beta Software program by registering your Apple ID.

The latest beta build of iOS 8.1 brings very minimum Apple Intelligence features to the platform. There’s the new Siri animation and the assistant has a number of new features. For example, you can now ask Siri to send a message to someone, it will detect which app you chat with that person the most on and compile the message.

There are also a number of new writing tools available. You can use Smart Replies in supported apps (just iMessage at the moment) which gives you quick replies based on what the latest message is. Proofreading and text style are also available. Here, you can proofread all text no matter where you type it out. Text style then uses Apple Intelligence to rewrite the text into professional or friendly styles.

The Apple Intelligence rollout is expected to stagger across multiple months and into 2025. Apple is expected to launch iOS 18.1 in October alongside the iPhone 16 range. New iOS 18.1 betas might bring new features to the platform but the majority of the tools such as photo editing and generative AI won’t arrive until 2025 when iOS 18.4 launches.

The same can be said for macOS 15.1 which is available in beta now too. The new Siri is included in the software and the writing tools are present. However, outside of those features, there’s nothing else.

We can expect Apple to release more AI tools over the next few months.
