Apple Foldable iPhone 2026

Apple is Reportedly Working on a Foldable iPhone

Apple is reportedly working on a new foldable iPhone that aims to solve the issue of creases appearing on most modern foldable phones. According to new reports, Apple’s new foldable phone has moved beyond the conceptual stage and is apparently already “in development with suppliers.”

As reported by The Information (via The Verge), Apple is seemingly working on its own foldable iPhone with a horizontal fold similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. However, reports indicate that Apple is looking to keep the phone thin while also addressing the problematic creases that appear when unfolded – an issue with most modern foldable phones. The device now has an internal nickname, V68, though not much else is known about it.

Apple’s foldable iPhone is rumoured to arrive as early as 2026 so it’s well past the conceptual stages at this point. Whatever Apple brings to the table, it will have some healthy competition in the foldable phone market, though making the device thinner with less creases might be the touch of innovation that it needs to get ahead of its competitors.

DigiTimes also corroborated this report, adding the following details:

  • It is set to include a top-down folding design, so more like a Samsung Galaxy Flip and less like a Galaxy Fold
  • It will carry dimensions similar to existing iPhone models, presumably when unfolded
  • Apple may have already signed a panel supply contract with Samsung for the device

“According to reports from Korean media outlets Hankooki and ET News, sources close to Apple indicate that the company has been conducting R&D on a top-down folding smartphone since 2024. The unfolded device is expected to have dimensions similar to existing iPhones.”

In related news, Apple had to warn 98 countries of possible iPhone spyware attacks earlier this month, urging users to use the iPhone Lockdown Mode to prevent any data breaches.
