Apple released yet another batch of iOS 18 beta builds last night and the software is finally taking shape. The latest update included beta builds for iOS 18.1 and iOS 18. While there were no new Apple Intelligence changes, the iOS 18.1 build is now running the same features as the latest iOS 18 Beta 6 build.
In the update, Apple has added the new Distraction Tools to iOS 18.1 which lets users click on any web elements and make them disappear. There are also various visual improvements to the platform. In Control Center, for example, the icons look cleaner.
Apple has also added the tinted Home Screen icons to your wallpaper layout. These also change depending on the wallpaper you save. So if you customize a set of green-tinted icons with one wallpaper, when you change to another and change back, it will keep those icons.
By the look of things, we are nearing the end of these beta tests now. iOS 18.1 Beta 2 and iOS 18 Beta 6 are looking quite polished and bug-free. Of course, Apple will likely roll out a few more versions with some final tweaks in the weeks ahead.
iOS 18 is set to launch around the time of the iPhone 16 in September. iOS 18.1, on the other hand, will only launch in October. Apple hasn’t dated the iPhone 16 event yet but we know it will take place sometime in September.
Apple also rolled out new versions of macOS, tvOS, VisionOS, iPadOS and WatchOS last night. All of which have various improvements.
