For the first time in the series, an Arma game is coming to consoles. Bohemia Interactive has announced that its popular PC shooter is now available on Xbox in early access with a planned launch on PS4 and PS5 at a later date. This specific launch game is called Arma Reforger, which connects Arma 4.
Arma Reforger takes players back in time to the fictional island of Everon in the 1980s. The game is set during the same period as the first game in the series, Arma: Cold War Assault. In fact, the game is set on the same map but mostly everything in Arma Reforger has been remastered. It features new environments, weapon models, sounds, lakes, rivers and more.

Arma Reforger is a multiplayer game and features two modes at launch. Conflict is a team-versus-team multiplayer battle that revolves around capturing zones and holding them. Players will take on the role of either the Americans or Soviet forces.
The second game mode is called Game Master. This is a real-time scenario editor that allows players to create their own combat situations in each match. If anything, this mode is meant to act as a true highlight to the series and also showcase the power of the game’s Enfusion Engine and the modding support that it comes with. The game mode is also being used as a stepping stone to Arma 4 which Bohemia Interactive says will fully support mods in greater depth.
Arma Reforger also comes with the Workshop – a mode where players can share their own custom content. Players can also download mods for Arma Reforger created by both the developer and other players. Bohemia Interactive states that anyone with “fair knowledge” of C# scripting can use the software to create custom AI and import their own creations.
Sadly, Arma Reforger isn’t a version 1.0 release yet. The game is only in early access which means there’s no PlayStation Support yet. Sony doesn’t publish early access games on the PlayStation Store. Bohemia Interactive says Arma Reforger will leave early access when they consider it done. Until then, gamers might run into bugs and issues. The studio is currently working on Arma 4 at the same time so development might be a bit slow.
