Summer Game Fest attendees got an opportunity to view some first gameplay for the upcoming mech-action game, Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, from Elden Ring developer From Software. Now, new gameplay has surfaced online revealing the game’s mech combat, exploration, customisation and a boss fight against a large mechanical foe.
The gameplay arrives courtesy of Japanese publication 4Gamer who recently uploaded three new gameplay videos for Armored Core 6. The first video walks players through exploration in a large steel environment before engaging in some mech-on-mech combat. The second video provides more combat while the last gives us a glimpse at the in-depth mech customisation menus and a massive boss fight, which once again looks to be a challenging staple From Software boss encounter.

While the gameplay for Armored Core 6 is pretty brief, it offers just enough to give fans an idea of what to expect. Specifically, it doesn’t play like From Software’s traditional Soulslike games – a point that the developer brought up numerous times when the game was first announced. Instead, gameplay is more action-focused with an emphasis on customisation, swapping out gear and weapons and experimenting with loadouts that best suit the situation.
The official description for Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon provided on Steam reads:
Combining From Software’s longstanding expertise in mech games with their signature action gameplay, Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon brings a brand-new action experience to the series.
Dynamic, Omni-directional Battles
Players will pilot their mech in fast-paced, omni-directional battles, taking advantage of massive stages and their mech’s mobility on land and in the air to ensure victory.
Customized Parts for Individual Battle Styles
Customize Armored Core parts to suit a large variety of playstyles. Selecting different parts not only changes the mech’s attacks, but also directly affects its movement and battle style, so each mission can be approached with a unique mech strategy.
Thrilling Boss Battles
Deploy a wide variety of offensive and defensive tactics at close and long range to take down powerful enemy bosses.
Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon launches on 25 August 2023 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Have a look at the new gameplay below:
