Assassin's Creed Black Flag Remake 2026 Release Ubisoft

Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Remake Could Be Out Next Year

We’ve heard reports of a remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag for years now, though a new rumour claims that the anticipated remake could be out as soon as next year. If previous reports are to be believed, then Ubisoft has at least 10 Assassin’s Creed games planned for release over the next five years. It makes sense for at least one of them to be a remake of a beloved entry in the franchise.

According to a new report from Insider Gaming, there are a few Assassin’s Creed remakes in the works but the closest one to release seems to be Black Flag. The outlet goes on to state that the Black Flag remake could’ve been out in November this year but the recent delay of Assassin’s Creed Shadows pushed Ubisoft’s release plans. It seems that the remake is on track to release in 2026.

Fans speculate that we’ll hear more about the remakes, including Black Flag, at a Ubisoft Forward event later this year, which makes sense if the company plans to push out nearly a dozen new games in the franchise by 2030. Assassin’s Creed is still a big ticket item for Ubisoft and there’s a lot riding on the franchise’s continued success.

Ubisoft chose to delay Assassin’s Creed Shadows by a month, pinning a new release date of 20 March 2025 on the anticipated open-world title. The game was originally supposed to release late last year but Ubisoft made the decision to push it to February this year in order to give the development team more time to work on the project. Another delay later and we’re now looking at a March release.

The description for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag reads:

“The year is 1715. Pirates rule the Caribbean and have established their own lawless Republic where corruption, greediness and cruelty are commonplace. Among these outlaws is a brash young captain named Edward Kenway. His fight for glory has earned him the respect of legends like Blackbeard, but also drawn him into the ancient war between Assassins and Templars, a war that may destroy everything the pirates have built. Welcome to the Golden Age of Piracy.”
