Assassin's Creed Shadows Modern-Day Story New Direction Ubisoft

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Dev Looking at Adding Higher Difficulty Mode

Assassin’s Creed Shadows launched a couple of weeks ago to mostly positive reviews with many praising its focus on stealth, improved parkour and visuals. However, if you’re one of those daring players seeking a greater challenge than the game’s currently difficulty settings, Ubisoft has an answer for you. The development team says it’s currently looking into adding a higher difficulty mode.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows creative director Jonathan Dumont recently told Games Radar that the team is “always listening and monitoring what players are doing”, adding that they’re actively looking at “making even a tougher setting for difficulty for some of our players. How challenging do you want it? But we’re looking at these things and monitoring what people said about the game.”

At the moment, Assassin’s Creed Shadows allows players to tweak and adjust almost every aspect of the game’s difficulty individually from enemy AI to stealth and combat. Players can also choose from a handful of difficulty options at the beginning of the game if they don’t want to tinker with the settings. However, it seems there are quite a few players looking for more of a challenge than what the game currently offers.

In related news, we went into detail about the key gameplay differences between dual protagonists Naoe and Yasuke. Unlike previous games in the series which simply let you change the gender of the protagonist while mostly still following the same story, Shadows features two individual main characters that exist at the same time with their own clear goals and journeys. If you’re also looking for sports attire themed around the open-world RPG, Venum has collaborated with Ubisoft to create limited edition apparel ranging from boxing gloves to shirts, hoodies and more.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. If you’re still on the fence about picking the game up, make sure you read our full review.
