Ubisoft will release the first major update for its latest open-world stealth-action game, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, today for consoles and PC. The sizeable update 1.0.2 will include several performance improvements, bug fixes and more technical tweaks but also introduce a few welcomed changes to make certain features less frustrating.
Ubisoft released the full patch notes for Assassin’s Creed Shadows update 1.0.2 yesterday, revealing a ton of fixes and changes coming to the game today. Most would argue that, at least on consoles, Shadows is quite polished with little to no technical hiccups but Ubisoft is going above and beyond to further tweak the experience.
We won’t go over every single fix and change from the major update but some highlights include the ability to reset your Mastery Nodes on the skill tree, allowing you to change Naoe and Yasuke’s builds if you feel they aren’t playing at their full potential. Another big highlight is how you engage with merchants and sell/dismantle your loot. As Ubisoft describes: “To help you save time when trading with merchants, we’ve added the option to tag and sell/dismantle multiple items in shops, or when dismantling gear at the Forge in the Hideout.”
To further enhance the visual quality of the PS5 Pro experience, Ubisoft is also adding PSSR support for Sony’s high-end console. PSSR will need to be manually enabled on the pause menu in order for this to take effect. Additionally, Balanced mode will now feature Raytracing Specular, bringing its visuals closer to Quality mode instead of Performance mode.
Unfortunately, this major update doesn’t include a higher difficulty mode yet. Earlier this month, Ubisoft stated that it would look into adding a greater difficulty option for players who want something a little more challenging than its current Expert difficulty. It will probably be a while until that update arrives but so long, here’s the full patch notes for update 1.0.2.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
