Assassin’s Creed Shadows has had a successful launch weekend with peak player counts across Steam and positive user reviews all around. The game, which launched on 20 March, already skyrocketed to the top of pre-order charts amid positive media reviews, and it seems the general public has been enjoying the game just as much.
On Steam, which isn’t Ubisoft’s primary store, the peak player count rose to an all-time high last night with 64,825 users. The game has also been praised on Steam with glowing user reviews. At the time of writing, there are over 8,500 user reviews on the platform with a 79% positive rating.
Many of the reviews have praised the world and story of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, while some of the negative reviews have also complained about the world and the story. Many users hoped the game would go back to the scale of the first few entries, but we kind of expect Ubisoft to go bigger now.
A lot of the negative reviews have complained about the mandatory requirement tied to the Ubisoft Connect account. In order to play the game on Steam, you have to sign in with a Ubisoft Connect account. This enables cross-save support and the Animus Hub access. So it makes sense the company wants you to sign in.
Apart from that, Ubisoft has announced that Assassin’s Creed Shadows did amass 2 million users in 48 hours of launch. We don’t know if these stats are game sales and how many of these players are playing the game using the Ubisoft+ subscription. But it is nice to see fans returning to the series.
We are still running the Assassin’s Creed Shadows Collector’s Edition giveaway for one more day. Be sure to enter it here. Watch our unboxing below.
