Assassin’s Creed Shadows has done incredibly well for Ubisoft. According to the latest game sales and reports from NPD, the game is now ranked as the second-best-selling release of 2025 so far.
Mat Piscatella says that Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been the best-selling game in the US for three weeks already, meaning it has remained at the top spot since its launch day. However, comparing it to other 2025 games, the report says it is slowly trailing behind Monster Hunter Wilds, which is so far the best-selling game in 2025.
Capcom announced that Monster Hunter Wilds amassed 10 million copies sold by the end of March 2025. So it is likely that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is sitting in the high 5 million copies at the moment. The last we heard from Ubisoft, the studio confirmed that 3 million players had jumped into the game by 27 March.
Given that it has been a few weeks since this announcement, it is likely the game has surpassed 4 or 5 million since.
The success of Assassin’s Creed Shadows is well-deserved. In my review, I praised the game’s excellent world and combat variety. It is likely the best entry in the series since Black Flag. Ubisoft is also planning to reveal DLC for the game in the coming months as the Shadows platform is expected to grow with free game updates, story content, and more.
