Assassin’s Creed Shadows Review Embargo is 18 March

Ubisoft says it is confident that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will launch on 20 March. According to a new report, Ubisoft says the game is “pretty much done” as the studio is preparing its aggressive marketing campaign ahead of the release next month.

The report also claims that reviews for Assassin’s Creed Shadows will drop on 18 March, two days before the game is available globally. It is unclear when review codes will be sent out for the game. However, Ubisoft usually sends these around 7-10 days before release.

Given the sheer scale of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, we hope there’s enough time to cover everything there is to offer in the game before reviews are published.

Ubisoft has also said that pre-orders for Assassin’s Creed Shadows are tracking quite well. The studio says the game is sitting with a similar pre-order count to that of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. However, they aren’t as high yet.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey had 400 – 450k pre-orders before the game’s launch, Shadows is currently on around 300k. Keep in mind that the pre-order culture for games is completely different than it was back when Odyssey was released. Gamers don’t pre-order games as aggressively as they used to and instead wait for reviews and user feedback.

With that being said, Ubisoft is confident that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be a success. The game is predicted to sell over 3 million units in its first month of release.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is out on 20 March for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. We recently went hands-on with the game. Catch up on our full preview here. You can also check out our full pre-order guide for the game here.
