Assassin’s Creed Syndicate Gets Surprise 4K 60FPS Update on Xbox and PS5

Ubisoft has released a new update for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate that enhances the game for modern consoles. The PS4 and Xbox One game now runs at 4K 60FPS across PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X thanks to this update. Xbox Series S now runs at 1080p 60FPS.

The update is live now across platforms. It comes in at under 1GB on PS5 and 31.8GB on Xbox Series X/S. Keep in mind that this update is an upgrade to the existing PS4 and Xbox One versions of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. It is not a native version for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. So don’t expect to find a new version of the game in your library. Like most upgrades, this is enabled through backwards compatibility.

According to the patch notes, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate has both 1080p 60FPS and 4K 60FPS. However, we don’t know yet if these are two separate modes or apply to different platforms. We know that Xbox Series S runs the game at 1080p 60FPS but the PlayStation listing mentions two resolutions too.

Regardless, the boost in frame rate is definitely a welcome addition to the game. Ubisoft has been slowly (very slowly) patching older Assassin’s Creed games to boost performance and resolution on modern consoles. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Origins have both been given the treatment. We can only hope that Ubisoft follows up with patches to Unity, Black Flag, III Remastered and the Ezio Collection.

Patch notes:

Xbox (~31.8 GB)

  • Xbox Series X
  • 4K resolution at 60 fps
  • Xbox Series S
  • 1080p resolution at 60 fps

PlayStation (~0.75 GB)

  • PS5 and PS5 Pro
  • 1080p resolution at 60 fps
  • 4K resolution at 60 fps
