ASUS has announced their Pinnacle of Performance live event along with an invitation where they will showcase their new Zenbook Pro 15 Flip OLED and Zenbook S 13 OLED along with other updates to their notebook range.
The virtual event will take place on the 9th of May 2022 at 6 pm CAT and is free for anyone to join which you can access here. The technical showcase will give us a deeper look into ASUS’ new Zenbook updates as well their Vivobook line, and will also demonstrate “unheard-of performance capabilities”.

Excitingly the showcase will unveil the new Zenbook Pro 15 Flip OLED and Zenbook S 13 OLED which both pack impressive screen updates, CPU performance enhancements, and a brand new logo as well. The Zenbook S 13 OLED is the latest in ASUS’ growing lineup of 13″ notebooks and it seems the Taiwanese tech giant has focused on the screen, offering a 2.8k 16:10 OLED panel. The refreshed screen will feature a 0.2ms response time with a claimed 550 nits of peak brightness making it an excellent place for multimedia engagement as well as content creators.
“The event will introduce the latest laptop innovations and designs, with unheard-of performance capabilities packed into a premium experience that features brand-new cooling capabilities, unique ergonomic features, intelligent user-centric technology and much more.”
The new screen offers the benefits of OLED technology at a consumer-friendly price as well as giving some of the best-looking visuals on an extremely portable and compact device. The Zenbook S 13 OLED weighs just under 1kg and is only 12.7 mm thick (crazy), and is available in a variety of colours – Ponder Blue, Aqua Celadon, Refined White, and Vestige Beige – although we are not exactly sure if all of these colours will make it to South Africa.
Even more interesting though is the fact that the S13 OLED will be powered by AMD’s Ryzen 6000 series CPUs, with the choice between the Ryzen 5 6600U or the Ryzen 7 6800U. It will also support up to 32GB RAM and comes equipped with 1TB storage.
On the other hand, the Zenbook Pro 15 Flip OLED will sport full Intel internals with 12-Gen processors up to a Core i7-12700H along with Intel’s in-house Arc GPU (up to A370M). The 15 Flip OLED will feature a 2880 x 1620 resolution OLED panel with an impressive 120Hz refresh rate and a 16:9 aspect ratio – why they chose the downgraded aspect ratio compared to the 16:10 found on the S 13 OLED we aren’t sure. In more oddities, the 15 Flip OLED will only support up to 16GB of RAM (considering the smaller 13″ gets double?) but will still offer the same 1TB of storage.
Both new models also sport a new ASUS logo which is sleek, subtle and a great improvement over a huge name logo that we have seen on ASUS notebooks in the past. The refined logo also gives the notebooks a much cleaner and minimalist aesthetic really elevating the lineup.
