ASUS Republic of Gamers has announced the new ROG Strix SCAR 18, a powerhouse laptop packed with a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU and Intel Core i9-13980HX processor, will be launching in South Africa. The laptop will be available from a number of retail outlets with local prices listed below.
The ROG Strix SCAR 18 laptop features some top-level GPUs and CPUs, coming with up to 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13980HX processors and up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU. It also boasts Tri-Fan Technology with a full-width heatsink design for fast, efficient cooling. The stunning display features the new 18″ Nebula 16:10 panel, ensuring bright, fast and vivid images.

As for what you can expect, the ROG Strix SCAR 18 will feature up to an Intel Core i9-13980HX processor with 24 cores and 32 threads, alongside up to a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU capable of up to 175 watts, for a total system power of 240 W (with Dynamic Boost and Manual performance modes). A MUX Switch with NVIDIA Advanced Optimus will ensure optimal framerates when plugged in and better battery life when untethered.
The laptop will come fitted with ROG’s groundbreaking Nebula 18-inch display offering up to QHD 240 Hz. Thanks to Nebula displays, you’re essentially getting high refresh rates with a response time of 3ms or less.
The design of the ROG Strix SCAR 18 was made with gamers in mind who seek the best in portable performance and customisation. Armoury Crate’s performance modes allow users to pick from silent, low-powered computing to turbo-charged gaming, or tweak voltage and fans manually for a completely fine-tuned experience. The striking design features RGB lighting along the chassis of the machine with a full-width light bar along the back.
The keyboard features customisable hotkeys that control the volume and microphone or quickly toggle performance modes. The large glass touchpad offers more precision with the chassis’ anti-fingerprint coating ensuring the laptop always looks clean and presentable. The semi-translucent keyboard is the icing on the cake.
