Autokeybo Automatic Retractable Keyboard Mouse CES 2025

AutoKeybo, World’s First Automatic Retractable Keyboard Debuts at CES 2025

CES 2025 has officially kicked off this week, showcasing a wave of new technology that will (probably) push us further into the future. Among the many great TVs, laptops and hardware on display, other companies took the opportunity to demonstrate some interesting new inventions. The AutoKeybo is one such invention, touted as the world’s first automatic retractable keyboard and mouse. It’s goal: to eliminate errors caused by hand transfers when moving from mouse to keyboard and vice versa.

“Full interface is most effective, but hand transfers disrupt mental orientation of key positions, causing errors and resets,” reads the product’s description its official website. “Perform better with a Full-size Mechanical Keyboard with Swappable Numpad and Mouse/Trackpad that eliminates hand transfers.”

The AutoKeybo uses an AI camera to observe your hand movements. If you perform a certain hand gesture while using the mouse/trackpad, the mechanical keyboard pops out from under your palms like retractable claws (Wolverine comparisons aside). Essentially, this means you can continue typing and using the mouse/trackpad without having to change your hand position, thus getting rid of any potential errors you can make during the transfer.

It’s quite a bulky bit of tech with a large palm and forearm rest occupying the front end (seemingly where the retractable keyboard is stored). The AutoKeybo also aims to ease your wrist strain by removing the strenuous activity of constantly moving your hand from your mouse to keyboard or hovering your arms over them.

Here’s the kicker: the AutoKeybo will cost $700. It’s a heavy price tag for experimental tech that, even with an AI camera monitoring your hand and typing patterns, will be a big ask of the mainstream market. For now, it seems like it will be better suited to extensive office and business use or for those who might’ve suffered shoulder/wrist injuries. There’s currently no release date attached to the retractable keyboard so we’ll have to wait for information to surface. Visit the official website for more details.
