Avatar 2 The Way of Water Teaser Trailer

Avatar: The Way of Water Official Teaser Trailer Released

Avatar 2, or now known as Avatar: The Way of Water, has released its official teaser trailer. The anticipated sequel to Avatar from James Cameron will take viewers to the oceans of Pandora, delivering plenty of gorgeous visual spectacle as expected. We’re sure IMAX cinemas will be flooded when it launches this December.

According to the plot description provided by the teaser trailer, Avatar: The Way of Water will take place a decade after the first film and follows Jake Sully, once again played by Sam Worthington, as they encounter new threats that are a little more complex than humans.

The official plot description for Avatar: The Way of Water reads:

“Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure. Directed by James Cameron and produced by Cameron and Jon Landau, the film stars Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement and Kate Winslet.”

The synopsis remains as vague as possible, probably to maintain some of the film’s intrigue. For the most part, the visuals are already looking stellar. Director James Cameron has a keen eye for special effects, especially with underwater or oceanic settings.

The original Avatar released in 2009 to a mostly positive critical reception, with many praising its standout visual effects above its less-than-stellar storytelling. However, the box office numbers speak volumes as it quickly rose to become the highest-grossing film of all time – a record that was only challenged in 2019 by Avengers: Endgame.

Avatar: The Way of Water releases on 14 December 2022 in cinemas. Watch the teaser trailer below.
