Avowed, the anticipated upcoming RPG from The Outer Worlds and Fallout: New Vegas developer Obsidian Entertainment, has received an exciting new trailer at tonight’s Xbox Games Showcase but unfortunately, it didn’t arrive with a concrete release date like previous reports said it would. Nonetheless, it’s still launching in 2024 for Xbox Series X/S and PC as well as day one on Xbox Game Pass.
The new trailer for Avowed showed off some new gameplay that we’ve never seen before. Largely inspired by Skyrim and other first-person fantasy RPGs where player choice ultimately shapes the fate of various characters and the world, it looks like we’re in for another deep, involving and rewarding role-playing game from Obsidian Entertainment.
The official description for Avowed reads:
“Welcome to the Living Lands, a mysterious island filled with adventure and danger. Set in the fictional world of Eora that was first introduced to players in the Pillars of Eternity franchise, Avowed is a first-person fantasy action RPG from the award-winning team at Obsidian Entertainment. You are the envoy of Aedyr, a distant land, sent to investigate rumors of a spreading plague throughout the Living Lands – an island full of mysteries and secrets, danger and adventure, and choices and consequences, and untamed wilderness. You discover a personal connection to the Living Lands and an ancient secret that threatens to destroy everything. Can you save this unknown frontier and your soul from the forces threatening to tear them asunder?”
Avowed releases in 2024 for Xbox Series X/S and PC. Check out the latest trailer from the Xbox Games Showcase below:
