Back 4 Blood, the upcoming Left 4 Dead spiritual successor has been delayed. The game was originally set to debut on 22 June 2021 but that release date has been pushed to 12 October.
Turtle Rock Studios announced the news on Twitter saying that the game simply needs more time to get it to the level they set out to obtain. However, although Back 4 Blood has been delayed, the studio claims that they still plan on hosting the open beta this summer (winter in SA).

The statement reads:
“Turtle Rock Studios is working hard to make Back 4 Blood the best game it can possibly be at launch and the team needs more time to do this. Therefore, we will release Back 4 Blood on October 12, 2021. We thank our community for its continued support and are excited to share that there will be an open beta this summer.”
Turtle Rock Studios did not leave us un the dark at least. The studio showcased a new trailer during the Future Gaming Show that shows off the upcoming co-op shooter. The gameplay is the same as the original trailer which the studio released back in 2020 but there are a few new game details you will notice.

The trailer is also voiced by the Back 4 Blood game director as he walks you though the game’s unique card-based roguelite elements.
“After you see those cards, you’re then going to be given a hand from a deck that you’ve built, and you need to decide what cards you’re going to play. Coordination with your team is going to be super key here, as you can do things like improving the quality of weapons and items that are found in the world, you can make it so your team can carry more Molotovs or medkits … We’re really excited to see what you and your friends will do with your cards.”
Take a look at the trailer down below. Back 4 Blood is set to launch now on 12 October 2021 for PS4, PS5, Xbox and PC.
