Back 4 Blood Gets First Expansion ‘Tunnels of Terror’ in April

It is almost time to dust off Back 4 Blood and get ready to return to the zombie horde shooter. Turtle Rock Studios has announced the first expansion for the game and it is arriving next month. Titled Tunnels of Terror, the first expansion will bring new missions, characters and more to the game.

On 12 April, Back 4 Blood Tunnels of Terror will arrive for all season pass owners and be available as a standalone purchase. The expansion pack will introduce two new characters to the game. Sharice, who is an axe-wielding firefighter and Heng, a restaurateur.

We don’t know much about these two new characters yet but expect them to have their own unique build styles and perks. Back 4 Blood Tunnels of Terror will also bring a new game mode called Ridden Hives to the game. This mode includes seven different Ridden dungeons below the town of Evansburgh that are filled with a new enemy type called Warped Ridden.

The expansion is also releasing eight new character skins, seven legendary weapons and 12 new weapon skins, new cards and more to the game.

Turtle Rock Studios says that everyone has the opportunity to play the Tunnels of Terror expansion as long as one player in a party owns the content. This means you can enter these dungeons as long as you join a lobby that has one player who owns either the Season Pass or has purchased the expansion.

As for the free content, Turtle Rock Studios is also releasing a new difficulty to the game called No Hope. The developers have yet to share specifics on this free update but it sounds like the mode might be more challenging than the rest.

Back 4 Blood has been nothing short of a success according to the team. Turtle Rock Studios claim that the game has hit 10 million players since its launch back in October. Turtle Rock Studios president and general manager Steve Goldstein said:

“To achieve such a milestone in the short time since the launch of Back 4 Blood is a historic event for our studio and this franchise. As we look ahead, we’re excited to keep the momentum going with our upcoming expansion, Tunnels of Terror, which will offer more cooperative content for fans to continue cleansing the world of the Ridden.”
