The full version of Baldur’s Gate 3 finally launched on PC today after spending a few years in early access. PS5 players might have to wait a few more months to buy the game as it’s expected to launch on Sony’s console on 6 September. Sadly, Xbox players will likely have to wait until next year to play Larian Studios’ latest RPG. In the meantime, it seems like Xbox Game Pass could be adding Baldur’s Gate 1 and 2 to its library soon.
According to the Twitter account Game Pass Tracker, some Xbox Game Pass subscribers are receiving a push notification stating that the first two Baldur’s Gate games will be heading to the subscription service soon. Something similar happened earlier this year for both Shadow Warrior 3 Definitive Edition and Maquette, which turned out to be true. Historically, it usually took a few weeks for the games to appear in the Game Pass library after the notification was sent out.

We’ll likely hear something official from Microsoft soon if this is accurate. To add a bit more fuel to the fire, several commenters in the Twitter post also mentioned that they’ve received the same notification, so it’s only a matter of time at this point.
The first Baldur’s Gate was released in 1998 and developed by BioWare, loosely based on the campaign setting of Dungeons & Dragons. Baldur’s Gate 2: Shadows of Amn was released in 2000 and also developed by BioWare. The sequel received multiple expansions, spin-offs and enhanced editions in the following years.
It’s unclear which versions of the first two Baldur’s Gate games will be made available to players through Xbox Game Pass, though it will likely be the popular Enhanced Editions from Overhaul Games that launched in 2012 and 2013.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is now available for PC with a PS5 version expected to launch on 6 September 2023.
